Poor customer service and unexpected fee changes at Furrow Family Dentistry. I scheduled an appointment for an evaluation on a micro-cracked tooth and was initially quoted $96. After filling out my paperwork and transferring my existing X-rays from my previous dentist so I wouldn't need new ones, I received a text message just the day before my appointment stating my estimated copay was actually $137. When I called to politely ask for clarification on the price difference, the staff member immediately became defensive and had an attitude. Instead of explaining the billing change, she told me "we’ve never had this issue before" and suggested "maybe this isn't the office for you." When I expressed my confusion and agreed to cancel, she simply said "OK, goodbye" and hung up. A basic billing question shouldn't result in being turned away as a new patient right before an appointment. Be cautious of last-minute cost increases and unhelpful customer service here. Update in response to the owner: The issue here isn't about the money—it’s about transparency and basic honesty. Receiving a text the day before my appointment raising my copay from $96 to $137 isn't being "upfront". Conveniently, this price jump was sent after their 48-hour cancellation window had already passed, leaving me backed into a corner right before my visit. It feels entirely disingenuous to lock a patient into a policy deadline and then change the price right after. To top it off, when I called for a simple explanation, staff told me "maybe this isn't the office for you" and hung up. The lack of integrity and dismissive customer service remain the core issues.

My experience yesterday at Furrow Family Dentistry was wonderful! Completely stress fee! and I reminded my hygenist that I had forgotten to take my daily anxiety meds... she replied no worries you will not need here. Gentle and thorough as could be. Dr. Derek came in to go over my findings and in complete comfort advised me for the first time in 60 years I have a perfect check up!! I scheduled my 6 month appointment and off I went for the day. If you are new to the community or looking to make a switch I can not recommend a more compassionate/friendly office staff. I tell everyone I know when asked for a dental professional... Furrow Family Dentistry. Great location and Excellence. Raised in the Johnston community and growing their family and practice locally!
