I went to Dr. Swett (the dentist who owned this practice previously), literally since I was born all the way up into my freshman year of college. Very happy he was able to retire and Furrow Family Dentistry is able to keep the practice going! My home care declined after college for a variety of reasons so I hadn't been back to a dentist in almost four years. I had some nerve pain with hot / cold food, pressure pain when eating certain harder types of food, and in typical early 20s male fashion, rather than address the problem I changed my diet to avoid those types of food. But I knew I had a problem that needed resolved sooner rather than later. I was nervous about being over-treated following such a long absence from professional dental care, and wanted to go some place I knew I could trust. While I was sad that Dr. Swett had retired (very happy for him, btw, he's the best and he's earned it!), I trusted he would've left his practice in good hands and from my visit it's quite apparent that Dr. Derek and Dr. Emily will be those good hands. Dr. Derek answered all of my questions satisfactorily, they were able to show me on my X-rays where my problems were and potential problems were developing, and the major cavities that needed resolved were clearly visible thanks to a neat little camera they utilized so I had no question that the work was actually needed. They had identified four cavities and were able to fix them in one session the next week/ Three of thoseI was aware of previously and one was in an area I was experiencing sensitivity and they were able to get a picture of to show me the decay causing that pain. Two of my cavities were very visible on my front teeth making it look like I constantly had a piece of food stuck in them the way Dr. Derek blended the compound it looks like I just got two brand new teeth! I also have a problem with needles and Dr. Derek and their assistant was excellent in communicating what and when they were doing things. And despite deciding to go without nitrous, I didn't feel anything more than some mild discomfort at only one point during the procedure (which in my mind just comes with the territory of something like this) as soon as I raised my hand Dr. Derek instinctively stopped what he was doing, asked me what was going on, and was able to apply an additional dose of the numbing agent before continuing. I'm writing this the day after that procedure. I was expecting some pain / soreness but after the numbing agent wore off I've got absolutely no pain. Even less than when I went in for the procedure initially. And I'm not just saying that, goodness gracious, I didn't even realize how uncomfortable eating used to be for me. I was actually able to enjoy my breakfast for probably the first time in two years. Thanks, Dr. Derek!

Dr. Emily did a same day crown for me today, this is so convenient! In 2 ½ hours and in one appt I have a completed crown. Dr. Emily is a perfectionist, she crafts beautiful results blending science and artistry . From the injection to tooth prep to crown completion I was comfortable the entire time . She and her assistant Jade make a wonderful team!
